I consider myself a sucker for songs and music that tug at your heart and make you think of home—and Mical Teja’s latest release, “HOME (Trini 2 De Bone),” is exactly that: it’s a heartbeat, a memory, a flag waving high in the Caribbean breeze, a love letter to the homeland for those living in the diaspora.
Just when you thought the Soca stream out of Trinidad had quieted down, and as we count the days to Carnival 2026, Mical Teja dropped a gem that stopped us mid-scroll while checking for new music releases on YouTube—“Home (Trini 2 De Bone),” a bold, joyful reawakening of one of Trinidad and Tobago’s most revered anthems. In typical Teja style, "Home (Trini 2 De Bone)" is not just a cover but a heartfelt, forward-thinking tribute with a rhythm and message that feels renewed and refreshing. David Rudder’s original feels like a timeless declaration; Teja’s version feels like a rallying cry for a new era—one that honors the past while dancing boldly into the future.

Lil Rick's mischievous song, infused with a sweet Bajan twang, is sure to captivate Soca music lovers throughout the Caribbean basin. Call 911. The operating boards are smoking and the whole island now has cat fever. Doctors are referring to the current situation as the first known instance of soca-induced spontaneous combustion; pussy has a way of causing that to happen! If you hear a man hollering in falsetto and clutching his chest, don’t panic—it isn’t a heart attack; it's just Lil Rick's cat mashup that's causing the island to shake rattle and roll to the beat of some really sweet Soca music.
I understand the overuse of the word anthem, and it seems excessive when a song emerges that captivates the listener. This song may just be the one to earn the title of the Kadooment anthem. If you see a bumper causing structural damage, please dial 9-1-1 and ask for backup, snacks, and a towel. While a few meows may contribute to the situation, most men tend to lose their composure when they witness a distressed cat!
You have to be strong to deal with this pussy escapade. A bumper hit is definitely part of the problem, and an injured cat could lead to either a life-changing moment and lasting friendship or a scratching and clawing episode that will be memorable for a long time. Regardless of the situation, Lil Rick will guide you along the path to success; just remember the do's and don'ts as they relate to properly caring for that pussy... could be a life-changing moment! The MONSTER ROTI Challenge: A Battle of Belly vs. Bravery

I love my country; our cuisine is just awesome, and our dialect is priceless. In this post, I want to share the saying of the old sages: "Better belly bust than good food waste," which means it's better to overeat than to waste food. Then again, we had, meh belly full but, ah hungry; a hungry man is ah angry man!" Ok, you get it, and you may have a few sayings that you know, so let's get to this eye-popping roti challenge.
"The Monster Roti Challenge" promotes food value or, in this case, total value for money spent. However, it is widely recognized that excessive consumption can lead to unhealthy habits, and some individuals may even mock the idea that Trinidadians are so carefree about food. Trinis don't joke about roti and doubles, but this one is a showstopper!
I have some friends who can put away a plate with ease, but this 'bell buss challenge" is not like preparing for a marathon. This roti is a scary behemoth, and I dare anyone to say, "I was born for this." You will utterly fail!
Dons2 Roti Shop isn’t just serving food; they’re running gastronomic gladiator games. This isn’t a roti—it’s an edible battlefield, a doughy coliseum where only the bold survive. The menu is packed with two meats, beef and chicken, pumpkin, bodi, potato, and mango in delicious Trini curry. The challenge for a free meal is to consume that 'hulk roti' in 15 minutes. If you succeed, you will be inducted into the roti-eating hall of fame and will not be required to pay the TT$100.00. Are you up to the challenge?
Let’s break it down:
- Price: TT$100.00, which converts to US$14.65 (free if you can eat that roti in 15 minutes).
- You win if you inhale this behemoth like a vacuum cleaner at a doubles stand.
- You lose if you tap out halfway and reconsider every life decision that led you here.
- Is your digestive system at risk? It may never forgive you, but that’s a problem for Future You.
- The stakes? Glory. Honor. We will provide a complimentary meal. We might also require you to rest for an unspecified duration.
Thinking, 'Better belly buss than good food waste,' or this could become a life-changing moment when you end up looking like a macajual! Therefore, the question isn't, "Is it possible?" — The question is, “Who among us will rise to the challenge?”

Tribulation by Chuck Gordon: A Song for Strength in Uncertain Times

The way earthly things are going, anything can happen." Fast forward to this moment where we see the world grappling with distress and uncertainty. What do we do to escape or solve our problems? Chuky believes that, in the 'midst of the chaos, we can find love!" Preach, brother, and with his thoughtful thinking, we turn to music because it has always been a beacon of hope—a force that reminds us of resilience, unity, and the possibility of better days. Chuck Gordon’s latest release, "Tribulation," is one such song, offering a powerful message of perseverance in the face of adversity.
This is a soundtrack for strength, as Chuck Gordon's writing skills excel for this song and with the production done by Joshua Salcedo (SUPAYOUTH), "Tribulation" is more than just a song—it’s a reflection of the struggles we face and a call to stand firm despite the challenges. We are confident that this track will resonate deeply with listeners, reminding us that even in moments of despair, we are not powerless.
My music contacts at WACK Visual Radio always tell me about "The Power of Music in Hard Times." I do understand that we can always find solace in music when times are frustrating and unknown/unforeseen problems arise; it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, as if there’s no way forward. But music can shift perspectives, offering solace and inspiration. Tribulation does exactly that, urging us to hold on, push through, and find strength in unity.
The people involved with this production deserve to be applauded for a beautiful song. Tony Paul's live saxophone performance in "Tribulation" adds soulful depth to the track, combining Chuck Gordon's emotive delivery and Salcedo's production expertise, all of which add up to deliver a brilliant and much-needed song.
Always remember that as we maneuver this journey of life, the universe sends us subtle messages that may or may not be easily recognized or appreciated. However, there is always a message in the music for the masses. Whether we like or appreciate most of the messages, we cannot ignore a gem like "Tribulation." At a time when many are searching for hope, Tribulation arrives as a much-needed anthem. It’s a reminder that even in the darkest moments, music can be a guiding light. We need more songs like this—songs that uplift, inspire, and remind us that we are capable of overcoming whatever comes our way.
