The bp Renegades Steel Orchestra, one of the most celebrated and successful steel bands in Trinidad and Tobago, delivered a stunning performance of Mical Teja’s “DNA” for the preliminary round of judging for Panorama 2024.

The arrangement, done by the brilliant Duvone Stewart, a renowned pannist, composer, and cultural ambassador from Tobago, captured the essence and excitement of the steel pan music. It was a musical treat tonight for the fans who witnessed the performance. Renegades delivered a spectacular performance of Duvone's arrangement that featured snippets of patriotic songs.

The song, a lively and catchy soca tune that celebrates the carnival culture of Trinidad and Tobago, was played with finesse and flair by the Renegades, who demonstrated their mastery and innovation of the steel pan instrument. The audience was captivated by the rhythmic and melodic fusion of live guitars, bass, brass, drums, and steel pans, and sang along to the chorus of “It In We DNA”. The Renegades received thunderous applause and rave reviews from the crowd, who were blown away by their musical skills and creativity. We expect to see this band go all the way to the finals and judging from tonight's performance fans expect them to repeat as Champions once again.

The Massy Trinidad All-Stars Steel Orchestra delivered a stunning performance of Olatunji’s “Inventor” for the preliminary round of judging for Panorama 2024. The band, led by arranger Leon “Smooth” Edwards, showcased their musical versatility and creativity with a dynamic and energetic rendition of the soca hit.

The song, written by Olatunji Yearwood and Jason “Shaft” Bishop, celebrates the genius and innovation of the steelpan, the national instrument of Trinidad and Tobago.

The band also displayed their versatility with intricate runs, from the tenor to the bass, and their ability to create a cohesive and balanced sound. Of course, the fans were thrilled, and people watching the performance online were ecstatic, posting how pleased they were with the performance. We wish them well for the rest of the competition.

The arrangement featured intricate harmonies, dynamic contrasts, creative variations, and a thrilling climax that had the crowd on their feet.

There is no doubt that the fans were pleased with the band's performance last night. However, it will be up to the judging panel to determine if they are good enough to move on to the next round of competition. We wish them well.
