Daily releases of new Soca songs and albums have the Soca world buzzing with excitement. Today, Sokah2Soca presents a musically stirring "Bottle Man Riddim," a production of the talented Simon Lettsome Jr., also known as GusBus. This album, mixed by GusBus and mastered by the renowned Kasey Phillips of Precision Productions, promises to be the heartbeat of Trinidad's 2025 Carnival celebrations.
The who is who on an album starts with curiosity then excitement creating murmurs that are eventually memes and chatter on social media. "Bottle Man Riddim" features an all-star lineup including the phenomenal Fay-Ann Lyons, the legendary Bunji Garlin, and the versatile Lyrikal. Each artist brings their unique flair to the riddim, creating a collection of tracks that showcase the best of Soca music.
It is all about the music and the old school bottle and spoon vibes: that, apart from the lyrical content, will lead to the success of these songs. What makes this album truly special is its "bottle and spoon vibes"—a nostalgic nod to the grassroots of Calypso and now Soca, where makeshift instruments and infectious rhythms create an atmosphere of pure, unfiltered celebration. The relaxed feel of the music invites listeners to let loose and enjoy the Carnival spirit to the fullest.
We will risk these artists' fans' wrath and rate these songs as we felt them. We dedicated some time to listening to and rating these songs.
- Fay-Ann Lyons: Fay-Ann is boss. She absolutely takes the riddim to new heights with her commanding presence and unmatched energy.
- Lyrikal: Coming in second, Lyrikal delivers a smooth and captivating performance that complements the riddim perfectly.
- Bunji Garlin: Third place goes to Bunji Garlin, whose powerful vocals and dynamic style add a rich layer to the album.
Here is what we think about this album: "Bottle Man Riddim" is a testament to the talent and creativity within the Soca community. GusBus has crafted an album that not only honors the tradition of Soca music but also brings a fresh, relaxed vibe to the Carnival season. We love the vibe and relaxed feel of this release, and we can't wait to see how it sets the tone for Trinidad's 2025 Carnival celebrations.
This album will not only take you home, bring back old school memories but will transport you to Port-of-Spain on Carnival Day liming with friends while knocking bottle and spoon rhythms. We feel the music, understand the vibes and know that you will absolutely love the feting feel of these songs. Now press play, vibe to the music then come back and shar your thoughts with your social media peers. We would love to hear from you... vibes!
