Shurwayne Winchester is the Michael Jackson of West Indian Soca. He has the moves and still looks young for a veteran of Soca music. Today we present his latest offering for Trinidad and Tobago's upcoming carnival in 2024. The song is titled "Iron Man." Shurwayne offers a glimpse of his unique talent as a singer and, most of all, his talent as an entertainer.
In the music video, Shurwayne can be seen grooving to the music in various scenes; he is dancing to music produced by Shot Master J on the Bess Box Riddim. Kyle Phillips of Badjohn Republic, based out of KMP Music Studios, handled additional production.
We recommend this song; it is lively, full of vibes, and showcases the talent of Tobago's finest, Shurwayne Winchester. If you love Soca, and especially if you are in the mood for some upbeat Soca, then "Iron Man" is your song. This is one to watch...

The "National Single Pan Steelpan-Finals" is the first Steelband Panorama competition for Carnival 2024. This competition takes place in November and December of 2023. The competition took place at the Grand Stand, Queens Park Savannah, in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. The venue is well known as the "Big Yard" for most major steel band competitions.
This year showcased the individual and collective talents of so many non-musically trained citizens of Trinidad and Tobago. Amazingly, our creativity flourishes with astounding musical arrangements and talented instrumentalists. Just think about making music and the use of the steel pan as a part of our school syllabus. We would move ahead of the world just because our people intuitively learned to play the instrument. We no longer "beat pan"; instead, we play a musical instrument that is recognized worldwide and was created by our own people. Oh, the possibilities!
Today we present the results of the recently concluded competition with the winning performance courtesy of PanTrinbago's Facebook Page. We will update this post with the actual performances as they become available. Please come back to this post for audio or YouTube video recordings.
Here are the results of Trinidad and Tobago's Carnival 2024 National Panorama 2024 Single Pan Finals Competition. Twenty bands were competing to be crowned champion. For this competition, the first-place winner, Chord Masters, playing Doctor Cassandra by Gabby, romped home to win it all. Congratulations from Sokah2Soca!

Well, well, well... it's Iwer again, and this time he found himself in a water-drenched situation because of the use of the national anthem for his latest music endeavor titled "Happy People." This song was released on November 17, 2023, for the upcoming 2024 carnival celebrations. "Happy People" is a production of KMC (Ken Marlon Charles) and written by KMC and Iwer.
It goes without saying that the audience was bound to be outraged by his use of the national anthem to open his song. But according to the national publication, Trinidad Express, things got interesting, leading to the Prime Minister commenting on the song. The news outlet reported that the Prime Minister of the country, Dr. Keith Rowley stated: "I would rather the national anthem not be treated that way.”
Iwer and his production team must have known that using the anthem would have created a controversial situation, and would negatively impact many in the general public and then some. Well, well, well, he got the message and re-released the song without the anthem. Good for Iwer, and now we move on and await his next 'Water' song.
The rest is up to you. The voice of the people will determine the outcome—the success or failure—of the much-talked-about song by KMC and Iwer. Love it or hate it. What is your opinion?

Carnival is a time of fun and having a good time. As the festival approaches, many plan ahead and daydream of their party time to come. Patrice takes us on that journey—time to pretend and imagine what is to come.
“Let’s Pretend” by Patrice Roberts is a whimsical and enchanting song that invites listeners to escape into a world of imagination and playfulness for carnival. With its gentle rhythm and evocative lyrics, the track encourages us to let go of reality and embrace the magic of make-believe while on the road, whining and having a good time.
As the music dances like a breeze, we’re reminded of the joy that comes from pretending—whether it’s imagining fantastical adventures or reliving cherished memories.
Patrice Roberts’ vocals carry us on this delightful journey, and the song becomes a delightful soundtrack for moments of wonder and daydreams. Phew, that video! That, my friends, is what daydreams are made of—time to pretend!
