Are you ready for a mood changer? Are you ready to experience the future of Soca music as dictated by the younger generation of artists from Trinidad and Tobago? If yes, then you are in for a musical and pictorial treat. Today we are thrilled to feature the newly released video visualization for "In Dey" by Erphaan Alves and Nailah Blackman. Produced by Kes Keyz, the song is a game changer, showcasing what we determine to be the future of Soca music, a new generation of artists delivering a modern and unique style.

The video visualizer showcases the incredible energy and charisma of the artists packaged in vibrant music production. The song celebrates the spirit of Carnival, showcasing the culture of our people while encouraging everyone to dance and have a really enjoyable time. The production captures the right vibe, making it a noteworthy production as Carnival festivities increasingly replace Christmas celebrations in Trinidad and Tobago.

We discussed what the future holds for Soca music. Soca is now a brand, and the music is constantly changing. Of course, some may continue to adhere to the core beat of Lord Shorty, aka Ras Shoty I, but it has now become a marketing norm more than ever before. The younger artists, like Erphaan Alves and Nailah Blackman, along with creative music producers, are pushing the boundaries of the music and searching for that magic formula that will put Soca on music charts around the world, not just as "World Music" or under the banner of "Reggae," but as a unique name the world will come to respect.

So go ahead, enjoy the work of these young and talented singers, and celebrate the body of work they stand on today. We applaud those who are pushing the genre and striving to create a new and lasting footprint for Soca music. This collaboration is a testament to the new generation of Soca artists who are pushing the boundaries of the genre and bringing something truly special to the table. Don't miss out on this electrifying track—it's the future of Soca! Please follow up with your comments. We can't wait to hear from you!

This song by Skinny Fabulous and Machel Montano illustrates the paradoxical nature of life. Today we are feeling, celebrating life, and having the time of our lives. Then comes a call—a call you never want to receive, but one that alters your entire life! Today these artists take to song to mark this solemn moment, the loss of a friend, but in so doing they also take the opportunity to celebrate the person's life and the good times they shared together as they move on to the next chapter in life.

Someone commented to me that this song is truly unique! The beginning of the video was solemn, as it should be when you are grieving the loss of a significant individual in your life. But then a switch occurs, and it becomes a celebration of life. Well, isn't that a reflection of what life and living are all about? The songwriters are in reflection mode: "Fallen Fetters" is a masterful blend of Power Soca that brings both joy and a heartfelt tribute to lost friends.

We cherish our friendships, and even when we part ways with friends we once enjoyed, we continue to remember them with positivity. "Fallen Fetters" celebrates the duality of life—full of joy and tinged with grief, yet always urging us to dance, celebrate, and live. It's a powerful reminder that in every fête, there's a bit of every friend we've loved and lost. In the world of music, reference is made to the term "episodic memory." Simply put, "This refers to the process whereby an emotion is induced in a listener because the music evokes a memory of a particular event in the listener's life." Now, you can appreciate the song as it brings back memories of the joyous moments you spent with the special person you lost.

So go ahead, cry if you want, remember your friend or family member for the person they used to be—the person who was a party animal, the person who celebrated life to its fullest—and then smile and reminisce about the good times. As you reminisce, enjoy the song, a song that embodies the duality of life—full of joy and tinged with grief, yet always urging us to dance, celebrate, and live. It's a powerful reminder that in every fête, there's a bit of every friend we've loved and lost.

Never, ever forget the "Bassman from Hell"! Never ever forget the talent that was the "Mighty Shadow"! In the past, we have celebrated Shadow's incredible contributions to the music scene. His unique sounds and unforgettable performances have left an indelible mark on the hearts of fans everywhere; therefore, it is fitting that we continue to do so even though there is a deluge of New Soca deserving to be posted.

I have published several posts honoring the life and music of the late and incredible talent known as the Mighty Shadow. As long as Calypso and Soca music remain relevant, his unique style on stage and his unique music will endure forever. It's Friday, and we think that as the weekend draws near, some Shadow music is the ideal way to usher in this weekend's activities.

The legendary singer, born in Belmont, Trinidad, grew up in Tobago. His musical genius catapulted him to become the iconic Calypsonian from Trinidad. His musical mastery gave us music that continues to resonate with fans worldwide. Born Winston McGarland Bailey, Mighty Shadow left an indelible mark on the world of Calypso and Soca music with his unique style and unforgettable hits like "Bassman" and "Stranger, along with my personal favorites, "I Come Out to Play," "Dingolay," and "Poverty Is Hell."

Despite his passing on October 23rd, 2018, his legacy endures through his timeless music and the joy he brought to countless listeners. I still love listening to the genius way he used brass in his songs; no one comes close today. His innovative arrangements and soulful melodies continue to inspire new generations of musicians and fans alike. He orchestrated each note with an unmatched passion, leaving a lasting impact on music.

We will never forget his contributions to the Carnival culture. Now, go ahead and press play and enjoy this musical compilation curated and mixed by DJ Musical Mix.

Soca music is a force that governs all Caribbean-styled carnivals. Soca music, however, has many sides and flavors that each Caribbean territory can claim as their own. This is our time, the Carnival season in Trinidad and Tobago, but there's so much more to discover. Today we feature one of the more popular bands out there producing infectious Soca grooves with a flavor all their own. Today, we present "In De Mas," a song by the renowned Saint Kitts band, "Small Axe Band International."

It is Carnival again in Saint Kitts and Nevis, and with that comes new and vibrant music. "In De Mas" is a celebration of Kittian culture and the way the people "play mas." The song's energetic rhythms and catchy lyrics cater to a population that knows how to party and have a fantastic time. The Small Axe Band exudes joy and skillfully captures the essence of their people and the vibrant atmosphere of their island's festivities.

The album "Sweet Carnival" features "In De Mas" as one of its songs. Lead singer Ras Kelly secured the Sugarmas 53 Power Monarch title with the song "Zodiac" from the Sweet Carnival Album. So far, Carnival 2024/25 has been a monster success for "Small Axe Band International." If you are a fan of "Small Axe Band International," we recommend that you purchase the album available on all major platforms. Thus far, the song and the infectious groove of this album have quickly become favorites of Soca fans. One would hope that the "powers promoting Soca in Trinidad and Tobago" would notice Small Axe Band International's music, as they have been producing excellent music for a long time. It's time for Trinidad and Tobago to become familiar with their music.

We think that once you listen to the song, you will absolutely want more. The album is gaining popularity in Saint Kitts and Nevis; shouldn't you join this movement? All Soca, regardless of their origin, should participate in all Carnivals throughout the Caribbean basin. In our musical traditions, we should not isolate ourselves. Insularity spells defeat, and Soca is a winning music style that needs to continuously shine brightly. We incorporated a typical Caribbean saying for our post headline, "All, ah, we are family!" to ensure everyone is on the same page.  So, press play and enjoy the music of Small Axe Band International. I assure you that you will want more!
