Lovah by Nessa Preppy x DJ Spider | Soca 2024

Sometimes we miss the moment but can always come back and correct our errors. That is the case with this song by Nessa Preppy x DJ Spider. The song was released around August 18th., 2023 on the IOU Riddim/Album. We missed out on posting the song but today we set the record straight. Here is the song for your listening pleasure.

One thing to note, with over one month on YouTube, this song has just 2,891 views/plays. Let's change that and get this song moving. Please share this post to get more eyeballs and plays for the song. We haven't heard the song on the radio, but you call into your favorite radio station and request the song.

We have also noticed that the COTT radio playlist of popular songs keeps repeating week after week. Songs change places but the list is almost the same for weeks. How can this happen when there are so many new music releases? Something is wrong at the radio stations that play the song from which the COTT chart is produced. So let's change the playlist, call in and request the new songs, call and request "Lovah" by Nessa Preppy x DJ Spider.

Take a look at the songs on the playlist and comment on what you think is wrong with it. Now I have been looking at these playlists for some time now and noticed the same songs changing places, but the list is almost the same. This constantly repeats itself with a new song added every few weeks.

So, what is my issue with the list? Simply put, there are too many new songs out there for the same songs to be requested for so many weeks now. COTT creates the list based on radio plays in Trinidad and Tobago. I blame the radio stations for this problem. Is it that these are the only songs being requested? If that is the case, then there is a black hole for new music releases in the Twin Island Republic for sure!

Artists create new music and release the songs online usually via Julianspromos but, many artists also send their songs to the radio stations hoping for much needed airplay; they hope that their songs will be featured as new music releases. When that is done there is an element of curiosity for the new music by the listening public. What happens next, the song is requested, and it becomes known and just maybe popular. If it is not played on the radio or does not become popular on YouTube, then the artist is in a bind and may not recoup the production costs!

So, even here on Ilandvybe radio, listeners should request the songs via chat or call the DJs and ask them, "Why the hell aren't you playing the new music"? Why are you playing so much Dancehall and Reggae when new Soca Music is out there? I will stop and hope that this message resonates with the DJs on the radio... are your feelings hurt? I couldn't care less!

Carnival Schedule 2024 | Trinidad & Tobago

First published on Sokah2Soca (www.sokah2soca.com). We bring you the new music while islandvybe radio makes it rock live on air! For this post we bring you news and a classic David Rudder song, Trini To De Bone... Enjoy!

It's that time of year again, and the National Carnival Commission of Trinidad and Tobago (NCCTT) has provided us with the schedule of events for the 2024 Carnival celebration.

Please note that Carnival events for 2024 start in December 2023 with the National Panorama Single Pan Finals and the Small Conventional Bands Semi-Finals at Victoria Square, Port-of-Spain.

Just keep in mind that you will have to contact friends and check online social media sites for the dates of your favorite and upcoming fetes that most people look forward to attending. Check "Eventbrite" (www.eventbrite.com) for available tickets to the most popular fetes!

In addition to the major events listed above, there are many other Carnival-related events happening throughout January and February, such as band launches, fetes, stick-fighting, limbo, and calypso competitions.

Carnival Monday and Tuesday are the two biggest days of Carnival, and they are when the famous street parades take place. Large gatherings of people take to the streets of Port of Spain and other towns and villages across Trinidad and Tobago to celebrate Carnival in Trinidad and Tobago. These celebrations are full of music, dancing, and colorful costumes.

If you are planning to attend Carnival in Trinidad and Tobago, it is important to book your flights and accommodations in advance since Trinidad and Tobago's Carnival is a very popular event.  That popularity could mean a shortage of rooms (if you decide to go last minute) and also the possibility of sold-out costumes if you plan to participate in the parade of the bands. Are we joking? Hell no, take note that DJ/Producer Private Ryan's "Soca Brainwash Trinidad 2024 - The Western Story" is sold out already!

Market by Nadia Batson | Soca 2024

Originally posted on the blog Sokah2Soca (www.sokah2soca.com). We bring you the new music while Islandvbye Radio makes it rock live on air!

Nadia Batson's latest single, "Market", is a lively and energetic Soca track that will get you moving. The song celebrates Caribbean culture and Batson's Trinidadian heritage, with infectious rhythms and lyrics that are both catchy and meaningful.

The song opens with a driving beat and Batson's powerful vocals, as she sings about the vibrant colors and sounds of the market. She describes the vendors selling their wares, the people dancing and celebrating, and the overall sense of joy and community.

The following quote seals the deal for us when listening to the song: "If yuh looking for sweetness to put inside a basket, I am the whole, de whole, de whole blinkin' market". Fans get the whole package of sweetness and sexiness from one Nadia Batson... and, we like the song too!

"Market" is a refreshing and uplifting song that surely puts you in a good mood. It is a perfect example of Nadia Batson's talent as a songwriter and performer, and it is sure to be a hit with Soca fans everywhere.
