Rum & Rhythm by Ravi B

Originally posted on the blog Sokah2Soca (www.sokah2soca.com). We bring you only the best new music, while Island Vybe Radio rocks it live on the air!

Today we are playing catch-up with a few posts. The songs are being posted without much to say about the music. You will serve as the evaluator and jury for these posts. This is post number three, "Rum & Rhythm," by Ravi B.

Ravi B has proven time and again that he is not just a proven Chutney Soca artist but an artist who can deliver sweet Soca music. Today we have a futuristic Soca track with the rhythm to go along with the rum that sweetens any fete. This music is different, and we should get into the weeds a little. The song was co-written by Kyle Weekes and Ravi B and brought to life under the production mastery of Badjohn Republic and Robert Nicholas. The song features the mesmerizing sounds of the tabla played by Ajnisb Mohip, adding an authentic touch that seamlessly blends with the soca beats. The enchanting background vocals of Karyce Phillips provide the perfect harmony, elevating the song's overall vibe. The final touch came from Madmen Productions, who mixed and mastered the track to perfection, ensuring every beat resonates with the listener.

This production delivers on a vibe that is familiar yet different. We love the production, and Rav B delivered on the vocals. Ravi B continues to innovate, and with this production team, delivered something different, something special for this Carnival season.

Today we are playing catch-up with a few posts. The songs are being posted without much to say about the music. You will serve as the evaluator and jury for these posts. This is post number two, "Big Day" by Kerwin Du Bois.

"Big Day" is a newly released soca track by Kerwin Du Bois, written by Kerwin Du Bois and Simbaarley, and produced and sung by Kerwin Du Bois. Kerwin can do no wrong, and he has, once again, delivered a song that should become a fan favorite.

The song carries a celebratory vibe, with lyrics that emphasize making every day a special occasion. It's perfect for dancing and getting into the carnival spirit! Have you had a chance to listen to it yet?

Eskimo by Trinidad Killa

Originally posted on the blog Sokah2Soca (www.sokah2soca.com). We bring you only the best new music, while Island Vybe Radio rocks it live on the air!

Today we are playing catch-up with a few posts. We are posting the songs with limited commentary on the music. You will serve as the evaluator and jury for these posts. We start with "Eskimo" by Mr. Killa. Joseph "Pronto" Figueroa, Kern "Trinidad Killa," and Onika "Nicki Minaj" Maraj-Petty wrote the song. Joseph "Pronto" Figueroa produced the song, while Cowin "DoriPro" Thorpe co-produced it.

The talk around town is that this one is called "The Bigger Links Riddim!" Do you think that is funny or just a running industry joke? Well, if you look at the production notes, you won't see anything related to the original production and especially the creators of the Big Links Riddim, Full Blown Entertainment!

This song has found favor with those living outside of Trinidad and Tobago. You may find the music familiar, especially for those who love the "Big Links Riddim." However, the song's popularity means that using it without permission doesn't bother anyone. That's life! Tell us what you think about this song.

Today we feature the return of  a daughter of the homeland. Natasha Wilson has released her new song, "Warrior." This song resonates with the power of resilience and determination and could have easily been called "The Return of the Warrior Princess!" Produced by Shawn “Spine” Stewart & Nkosi Sucre of Zig Boi Music, "Warrior" showcases a sweet dance Calypso vibe while being marketed as a Soca music release.

Warrior captures the spirit of the people of Trinidad and Tobago. The music is captivating and full of carnival energy vibes. This is what we were looking for—a return to a time when 'Dance Calypso Music' controlled the music scene in the homeland. Natasha's powerful and effortless vocals, along with the sweet Calypso vibes of the song, bode well for our music and culture. The song is being marketed as  a Soca track, but anyone listening will realize that this is a return of Calypso music in dance music style.

The production team of Shawn “Spine” Stewart & Nkosi Sucre of Zig Boi Music delivered an infectious and uplifting melody, and this should definitely be on your playlist for Carnival 2025. The lyrics, written by Nkosi Sucre, feel like he looked into Natasha's soul to pen phrases that she delivered with passion, bringing every word to life.  It's a song that celebrates resilience, joy, and the unwavering spirit of a warrior princess!

As our music continues to evolve, artists such as Natasha and producers like Shawn "Spine" Stewart & Nkosi Sucre of Zig Boi Music are taking us musically back to the future. Despite marketing this track as Soca, it's actually a fusion of Calypso music and pop culture. Call it "Island Pop Soca" or Soca, but ultimately it's a powerful and uplifting track that beautifully blends the vibrant sounds of Calypso and Soca with a heavy Calypso influence.

We love the song and believe that you will feel the same. Please share this post, link the YouTube music video to your social media posts, and call and request this song on your favorite radio station. Well done!

From the production team:
A warrior is someone who stands fearlessly for their beliefs, holding steadfast to their morals and never wavering in the face of adversity. Natasha Wilson embodies the true essence of a warrior. Natasha Wilson's new single, Warrior, exemplifies her unwavering courage and resilience, capturing the strength required to overcome life's challenges and triumph.

With a powerful message and an equally powerful voice, Natasha Wilson encourages all listeners to embrace their inner warrior and face life’s challenges with strength and determination.

Written by Nkosi Sucre and produced by Spine and Sucre from the renowned Zig Boi Music production house, this heartfelt track is a musical masterpiece. Warrior is designed to resonate deeply, warming hearts and soothing ears with its powerful message and soul-stirring melody.
