Calypso consistently dominates Caribbean carnivals, but before I get into trouble with the people of Barbados, let me make it clear: Crop Over is not a carnival; it is a festival! Ok, While everyone parties to the beat of Soca, the carnival would not be the same without a Calypso Monarch. Despite the unique names in Barbados, the competitions remain consistent throughout the Caribbean. The Calypso Monarch reached its lyrical pinnacle at the Courtesy Garage Pic-O-De-Crop Calypso Monarch Finals, where calypsonians brought fire, wit, and cultural pride to the stage. Mr. Blood won the coveted title of Calypso Monarch after a night of fierce competition and incredible performances!

The main events for Soca and Calypso at Spicemas 2025 showcased the talent of the Spice isle. The vibe was right and the energy in the crowd was palpable. It was a night to remember, and the champions/monarchs of Soca (Power and Groovy) and Calypso were crowned. From thunderous Power Soca anthems to smooth Groovy vibes and lyrical Calypso mastery, the stage was set ablaze as new monarchs claimed their crowns.

Some will say it was a commanding 262-point victory, while others will say they slivered by, winning by just two points. It did not matter because Co-op Bank Commancheros claimed the top spot at this year’s Panorama, delivering a performance that blended precision, power, and cultural pride.
What was the true drama of the night? Rainbow City All Stars and Nexa New Dimension tied for second place, each scoring 260 points. Just behind, Angel Harps landed fourth with 259, proving how fiercely competitive the night was.
Apart from the drama of the score sheet, what truly stood out was the vibrant youth participation; the future looks bright for steelpan in Grenada. From fresh-faced pianists to emerging arrangers, the next generation showed up and shone brightly. The future of steelpan in Grenada isn’t just promising—it’s already playing.
While the festivities did not have the grand atmosphere that Panorama in Trinidad brings, it wasn’t just a contest. It was a showcase of Grenada’s steelpan brilliance—where every note told a story, and two points made all the difference!

Soca music fans' music cup is overflowing with sweet music from our very talented artists. As the years add on and we move forward, the music excellence just keeps getting better. Today we feature a track from Saint Lucia's 2026 carnival. “I Am Soca” isn’t just a track—it’s a declaration. This song oozes with Caribbean swagger and, if marketed properly, could impact carnivals across the Caribbean basin.
The song was written by the singer, Imran "Nerdy" Magloire and Mica and celebrates Saint Lucian culture. The genre-savvy crew at Rapid Entertainment produced a sound that is polished, potent, and primed for global impact, with Minor Productionz handling the mixing, mastering, and additional production.
And the vocal layering? Pure family fire. Harmony “Mamo” Magloire, Kimari “Marik” Magloire, and Zanye “Mighty Z” Lawrencin lend their voices to amplify the anthem’s soul—proof that when Lucians link up, the vibes are unstoppable.
