We're thrilled to introduce the cornerstone of the Canboulay Riddim album, the newly released song "Canboulay Dancers" by the legendary Soca star, Super Blue. This track sets the foundation for the entire album with its powerful and brash vocal delivery.
Super Blue's voice delivers a compelling warning for anyone daring to enter the realm of the Canboulay Dancers. Prepare yourself for a surreal experience as the spirit of the nation's African slave ancestors hovers over the proceedings. This song embodies the essence of Canboulay, making it a standout track.
Smiddy Smith has truly found the perfect voice, while Super Blue penned excellent lyrical content for this lead song. Although Super Blue's voice is not the same and his current singing style may not resonate with everyone, it is evident that he nailed the lyrics and delivered an unforgettable performance.
We wholeheartedly applaud "Canboulay Dancers." Super Blue remains the Soca Baptist goat! His ability to blend traditional elements with contemporary sounds keeps listeners engaged and eager for more. Super Blue's influence on the genre will be evident for years to come as the rhythm pulsates through the air.
Now we want to hear from you. Listen to the song and share your feedback with your social media peers. Tell us how the song made you feel and, most of all, if you connect with it. Keep the vibe alive!

If I did not wish a merry Christmas to all of you, I found the best way I could say it to everyone. Sometimes a song can say what we can't, and this song just puts me in a sentimental mood. I'm going to try something different by sharing a Christmas song by a US gospel performer. No, it is not a Soca song; it is just a beautiful song by Jonathan McReynolds. The song is "White Christmas," and yes, we did get some snow in NYC for Christmas, giving us our first "White Christmas" in a few years.
Sometimes, when I hear a song that speaks to me, I find myself in a particular mood. From my heart to yours, I wish you a very Merry Christmas. Here's to wishing you all a very Merry Christmas filled with joy, love, and festive musical vibes! As we celebrate this special occasion, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your continued support and for making Sokah2Soca your go-to source for Caribbean culture.
May your holiday season be bright and filled with the sweet sounds of music. Let's cherish the moments with our loved ones and create beautiful memories together.
Thank you for being part of our community. Here's to a wonderful Christmas and an even more fantastic New Year!

The COTT music chart for the week of December 19-December 25 is out, and it's a fantastic mix of Carnival Soca and festive Parang Soca music that's beloved in Trinidad and Tobago. This week's chart features both established artists and emerging talents, showcasing the vibrant culture and joyous spirit of the season. Fans can look forward to infectious rhythms and catchy melodies that are sure to get everyone in the holiday mood.
Here's the top 10:
- Cocoa Tea by Kes
- Da Spirits by Black Cake and Sorrel - Ma$termind
- One Piece by GBM Nutron x Tano
- Spanish Woman by Baron
- Hush Yuh Mouth by Kenny J
- Tabanca by Mical Teja
- De Paint Brush by Kenny J
- Higher by Voice
- It's Christmas by Nailah Blackman x Rome
- Carmenante by Baron
What do you think about this top 10? Do you have any favorites or any other songs you'd add to the list? Are these songs representative of the population, or do they simply reflect the mood of the program directors or the music selections of the radio stations? We don't mean to be critical but one can question the inclusion of "Higher" by Voice with so many popular songs being played on YouTube!
We value your opinions and welcome your comments. Stay tuned for more musical updates and keep the vibes alive, The Sokah2Soca.
